Katherine Kelly Lang has spent nearly 33 years playing out intense drama scenes as The Bold and the Beautiful's front-burner character Brooke Logan, but her latest project -- a film called Stan the Man -- has the actress smack-dab in the center of a comedy. The change of pace is a welcome one for the Los Angeles native, who describes her role in the rom-com as refreshing.
"I love working on The Bold and The Beautiful all these years, but it is so enjoyable to do something different. It gets you motivated and inspired," she tells Digital Journal of taking part in the film. "Stan the Man was a cute romantic comedy, and I love romantic comedies."
Written by Zachary Sasim, the film stars Steven Chase as Stan Mann -- a rich playboy whose life revolves around women, booze, and gambling. His entire life changes when he gets mixed up in a casino gambling scheme with Russian mobsters and loses everything. Planning to drown his sorrows in a bottle, Stan is critically wounded in a liquor store robbery, where he takes the bullet intended for the store clerk (Anne Leighton). He has a near-death experience in the ER, where a slightly resentful angel gives him a chance to change his ways and redeem himself by finding his one true love within 30 days.
Says Lang about her role in the comedy film, "It is nice to do something light-hearted than doing drama in a soap opera all the time. My character, Elizabeth, was obsessed with controlling Stan in his life, and I got to be over-the-top and I got to have fun in this totally different role. It was an interesting character."
As Soap Central previously reported, Stan the Man also features soap vet Crystal Chappell (ex-Carly Manning, Days of our Lives; ex-Olivia Spencer, Guiding Light; ex-Danielle Spencer, B&B; ex-Maggie Carpenter, One Life to Live) in a small role.
Stan the Man was released on digital services like Amazon Prime in January. Check out a teaser trailer for the film below and let us know your thoughts in the Comments section at the end of the article.
