Crystal Chappell (Carly Manning) will be exiting Days of our Lives in the weeks ahead. The Emmy-winning actress has revealed that her contract with the NBC soap will not renewed.
"Want you to know, as I understand it, Days of our Lives has decided not to renew my contract," Chappell informed fans via a message from her husband's, Michael Sabatino (Lawrence Alamain, DAYS), Twitter account. "I'm sad but grateful for the opportunity. I wish DAYS much success."
Chappell went on to say that the decision was apparently made before the show dismissed head writer Dena Higley, noting, "Not the new writers' decision."
In 2009, Chappell returned to Days of our Lives after nearly two decades away from life in Salem. Chappell had previously appeared as Katerina Von Leuschner, a.k.a. Carly Manning, from 1990 to 1993.
After her stint on DAYS, Chappell went on to play Maggie Carpenter on One Life to Live for two years, and then enjoyed a ten-year run as Olivia Spencer on Guiding Light. During her time with Guiding Light, Chappell earned an Outstanding Supporting Actress trophy at the Daytime Emmys in 2002. She received two additional Supporting Actress nominations in 2005 and 2006, and Lead Actress nods in 2007, 2008, and 2010.
Chappell is also co-executive producer of the Emmy-nominated web series, Venice.
A final airdate for Chappell has not yet been announced, though her current contract does not expire until August.
