Nearly five months ago, Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez) announced that she'd be exciting Days of our Lives. Now, after extending her stay in Salem slightly, the actress has officially wrapped up her three-year DAYS stint.
Banus has been absent from social media since taping her final scenes, but hours before reporting for her final day of work, Banus took to Twitter to share her thoughts with fans.
"[January 17] is my last day shooting as my beloved character Gaby," Banus wrote on Twitter. "Everyone wish me luck on my last day of taping."
Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) shared a photo on Twitter of Banus and Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux) with the caption, "Our beautiful girls @camilabanus & @KateMansi share a hug & some very emotional scenes today!"
Elsewhere on Twitter, Banus' on-screen brother, Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) offered, "Sad day sis. Sad day. Wuv u!"
Banus announced her exit in August 2013, saying that it was "time to pursue new projects, characters and opportunities."
Banus joined Days of our Lives in October 2010, assuming the role of Gabriella from actress Gabriella Rodriguez. Prior to joining DAYS, Banus had a short-term run as Lola Montez on One Life to Live from 2008 to May 2009.
"I was very blessed. I work with amazing actors, especially the amazing young actors on DAYS," Banus added. "You don't see that often on soap operas. I also feel very privileged to work with incredible talent behind the scenes. The crew and directors have given me amazing feedback and directed me when I needed them."
A final airdate for Banus' alter ego has yet to be announced, but fans can take comfort in knowing that DAYS' production schedule means that the actress will continue to appear on-screen for several months.
