It wouldn't be a surprise if stores across the country sold out of Kleenex boxes over the weekend. Friday's emotional episode of Days of our Lives left millions of viewers in tears after Peter Reckell's Bo tragically died in Hope's (Kristian Alfonso) arms. The scene brought Bo and Hope's iconic love story to an official end, closing the book on 32 years of their shared history.
"Pete & I were given an incredible gift when we joined @nbcdays," Alfonso wrote on Twitter following the tearjerker episode. "Thank you all so much for all your Love & Support through the years. Thank you for taking the journey with us, with Bo & Hope."
Though the heart-wrenching scene was extremely tough for longtime fans of the couple to experience, the silver lining is that Reckell's short return and the consequent storyline that played out over the past several weeks finally gave viewers the closure they've been begging for since the actor left the show three years ago. And for anyone who paid attention to Reckell's interviews earlier this spring, the tragic turn of events wasn't really a surprise. As Soap Central readers may recall, the actor shared with us that his return would entail Bo experiencing "an ultimate hero moment," which led many fans to believe he'd eventually die saving his love.
Fortunately, there's one more silver lining that goes along with this tragic tale: Alfonso has reportedly signed a contract extension, meaning there will be plenty of drama ahead for Hope as she adjusts once again to life without Bo by her side.
