After nearly twenty years as General Hospital's Felicia, Kristina Wagner has decided to call it quits. The actress has already made her final General Hospital appearance.
According to Wagner, her lack of on-air time was a primary reason for her decision to depart.
"It won't be a big surprise [to viewers]," Wagner said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. However, Wagner is quick to admit that she already misses her former costars.
"It was an amicable split," states a General Hospital spokesperson. "She wanted to pursue other projects, and we wish her all the best."
Wagner – then Kristina Malandro -- joined the cast of General Hospital in 1984. Romance quickly bloomed for Felicia and her on-screen partner Frisco Jones, played by Jack Wagner. In 1988, Jack left General Hospital. Two years later, Jack and Kristina were officially confirmed as a couple and their first son, Petey, was born. In 1992, Kristina and Jack split up, but they reconciled and were secretly married the following year. In 2001, however, Kristina filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Now, however, the couple has confirmed that they are working out their differences – and their divorce is off.
While Kristina is leaving General Hospital, her husband has returned to daytime television. Wagner makes his debut on CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful later this month. (Click here for the complete story)
A spokesperson for General Hospital declined to comment on whether or not the role of Felicia would be recast. Wagner last aired on February 13th.
