Long-time General Hospital favorite Wallace Kurth (Ned Ashton) has been taken off contract with the ABC soap.
In a posting on his official web site, Kurth expressed his disappointment that the show's writing team couldn't produce more story for his character. However, the actor said he is optimistic about pursuing other projects that might come along.
"Tell everyone I'm fine, and don't worry, it will all work out," Kurth said in his statement. "This is probably for the best for me."
Kurth joined the cast of General Hospital in 1992. An ABC spokesperson confirms Kurth's downgrade, but insists offer hope for the actor's fans. "As storyline dictates, he will be very much a part of the canvas," the spokesperson said in a statement.
