Anyone with a pet knows how excited they can be to see their human family members. Unfortunately, General Hospital star Leslie Charleson's four-legged friend got a little too excited, and it landed Charleson in the doctor's office.
"@lesliecharleson's beloved dog, Riley Rose, was a little too eager for her morning walk and tripped Leslie -- injuring her leg," the official General Hospital Twitter handle shared.

Even worse, Charleson had been scheduled to film some upcoming GH scenes, but her injury has left her unable to report to work. As a result, GH has had to temporarily recast the role of Monica.
"Unfortunately, she will need to be replaced in shows already written. She sends all her love and will be back as soon as she recovers. We wish her a speedy recovery and all the best," the GH Twitter account added.

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Patty McCormack has been tapped to take over the role of Monica while Charleson is sidelined.
McCormack is perhaps best known for her starring role in 1956's The Bad Seed. McCormack is scheduled to appear on-air in mid- to late May.
UPDATE On April 18, Charleson took to Twitter to thank fans for their well wishes. "I'm overwhelmed by all your comments and well wishes since my fall," she shared. "I'll do my best to heal quickly because there's nothing more I'd like to do than to get back on my horse and back in the Quartermaine living room! My love and thanks to you all!"
