General Hospital fans have been dreading the day that Vinessa Antoine exits the ABC soap opera for a new adventure ahead, and the sad time has come.
The actress celebrated her last day on set in Port Charles on Friday, as she's off to begin a new job as the lead character on the Canadian series Diggstown. In honor of the Toronto native's final moments on set, Antoine's GH family gave her a very memorable goodbye complete with a pink farewell cake.
"You will be missed, Vinessa Antoine. But we're sure Marcie Diggs has great things ahead of her," the show's official Twitter handle shared along with photos of the goodbye party. "Break a leg!"

Unfortunately, many fans are taking "diggs" at GH because Antoine's first name was accidentally misspelled with an "a" instead of the correct "i" on her goodbye cake. A few funny memes have been shared about the mistake (like the one below), but the actress herself hasn't seemed to mention it.
#GH See what she meant by "the attention to detail." 🤭😅

As Soap Central previously reported, Antoine is off to take on the character of Diggstown's Marcie Diggs, a top corporate lawyer who decides to dedicate herself to a legal aid office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Antoine will make history as the first Black Canadian actress to star in a primetime drama on legacy network television, according to the CBC.
"I'm just very excited to be chosen to do this," Antoine told the Toronto Star. "I think it's something that's been long overdue. But everything is changing right now and it's definitely time."
Antoine revealed via a series of tweets that she had been open to recurring on GH, but scheduling between the shows proved impossible, so she and the soap agreed to amicably part ways.
"Thank you Vinessa Antoine for a great run at GH," wrote ABC exec Nathan Varni. "Excited to see your new series!"

As for what viewers can expect now that Antoine is officially gone from GH, the show recently announced that they have cast Briana Nicole Henry (ex-Esmerelda, The Young and the Restless) in the role of Jordan. She reportedly began filming in late August, meaning her first episodes are right around the corner.
How do you feel about GH's send-off for Antoine? Will you be tuning in to Diggstown? Do you think the powers that be chose a nice replacement for the character of Jordan?
