Soap opera fans love their drama, drama, drama. But General Hospital star Roger Howarth (Franco) thinks there are situations when less is definitely more.
The actor recently did an interview in which he touches on the popularity of the pairing between his alter ego and Rebecca Herbst's Elizabeth. During the chat, he pointed out that he appreciates the way the powers that be allowed the pair's romance to unfold and hopes that simplicity will become a part of what viewers see as the couple continues to bond.
"The writers give some space and air to that relationship, which I think is really sweet -- and I think the audience appreciates it," the actor told Soaps In Depth. "We love story, we love plot, but sometimes the story and the plot should just be that they're two people who enjoy one another. The more these characters are people, the more it gives viewers a chance to care about them."
The past few months of story have transformed the viewers' reception of Franco; more viewers can relate to the character and care more about him now that it has been revealed that Franco was molested by Jim Harvey many years ago. GH delved deep into the storyline, starting with Franco agreeing to be a part of Kevin Collins' (Jon Lindstrom) study, "The Pathology of a Psychopath," and ending with him confronting the horrendous things he'd experienced as a child.
