Carrie Fisher made the role of Star Wars' Princess Leia iconic, and now General Hospital star Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller) is carrying on the legacy. The California native has landed the role of the princess for the animated series Star Wars Resistance and Lego Star Wars: All-Stars, albeit in a new form: the character is now called General Leia Organa.
Star Wars Resistance is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows a pilot recruited by the Resistance to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. The show may sound familiar to soap opera fans, as Days of our Lives' Christopher Sean (ex-Paul Narita) plays the pilot in the animated series. Now Hennesy will also be a part of the action as General Leia, who was previously voiced by Rachel Butera.
Lego Star Wars: All-Stars features the LEGO versions of Star Wars characters, including Lando, Han, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, R2-D2, BB-8, Graballa the Hutt and General Leia Organa. Both series can be found on Disney XD and the Disney XD YouTube channel.
Hennesy has been playing the role of GH's Diane since 1981. But, as the soap role is recurring, she often appears in other shows. Her non-daytime credits include True Blood, Dawson's Creek, Cougar Town and Suits.
