General Hospital's Sonny and Carly are like peanut butter and jelly. They're just meant to be together. But jelly is also pretty good on a scone. And peanut butter is also pretty good on celery. And, it turns out, Sonny is pretty good with Margaux.
The mobster's portrayer, Maurice Benard, admits that while he is a huge fan of his alter ego's long-lasting relationship with Carly (Laura Wright), he's also looking forward to whatever the writers have down the pipeline for his budding connection to Margaux Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson).
"I'm a fan of keeping the couple together, but I'm also a fan of Margaux and Sonny because I think it adds spice, which is needed," he reveals to Parade, adding that while he likes the romance variation, he doesn't want it to go too far. "I don't think they should sleep together, but I think they should have an emotional connection that is perceived differently from maybe other people."
But, as the publication asks him, is it really possible for a man and woman to be just friends?
"In real life, it depends how close, because I always say no in real life," Benard says. "But in soaps I'll say yes!"
