Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' Crossword Mysteries film series, which stars daytime alums Lacey Chabert (ex-Bianca Montgomery, All My Children) and Barbara Niven (ex-Liz Coleman, One Life to Live), is adding a new soap opera actress to the family. Cynthia Preston, known for playing General Hospital's Faith Rosco, has joined the cast of the series' latest installment, Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver.
Preston shared some backstage images from the film in which she takes on a character named Julia Marquez. Unfortunately, the upcoming mystery movie has just gone into production, and details regarding the plot are still being kept under wraps.
Hallmark's Crossword Mysteries film series was first announced in 2018 with the description of the premise reading, "A brilliant crossword puzzle editor [Chabert] finds her life turned upside-down when she is pulled into a police investigation after several of the clues in her recent puzzles are linked to unsolved crimes. The lure of an unsolved puzzle leads to an unlikely partnership working with a tough, but charming police detective [Brennan Elliott] as the two set out to solve the murder before the killer strikes again."
As keen soap fans know, Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver isn't the first time that Preston has worked with Niven. The two appeared together in Dead at 17 back in 2008. Preston's other acting credits include Jack Ryan, Hannibal, and films like Carrie, The Secret Sex Life of a Single Mom, and Stalked by a Reality Star.
The actress was introduced as GH's Faith Rosco back in 2002. Fans of the soap may remember that Faith worked alongside Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) to take down mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). She also caused Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) to miscarry when she pushed her down the stairs after finding out Liz was pregnant with Ric Lansing's (Rick Hearst) baby. Faith's terrorizing time on the canvas came to an end in 2005, when A.J. Quartermine (Sean Kanan) hired an assassin to kill her.
Abracadaver will be the third in the Crossword Mysteries movie series; the first, A Puzzle to Die For, premieres Wednesday, September 11, at 9PM ET on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
