Former One Life to Live Star Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan) took to Instagram with a heartbreaking message for fans. The actor revealed he's been diagnosed with cancer.
"This weekend has been a crazy one to say the least. Some of you may already know, but Friday I was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer and will begin chemo therapy sometime this week," he shared. "While the journey will not be easy, I know that together with all of my family and friends, we will beat this! Just a bump in the road on this crazy ride we call life! I will keep all of you updated as we go along."
Alderson's real-life sister, Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning, OLTL; ex-Kiki Jerome, General Hospital) shared more information about her brother's condition as well as a photo of him in the hospital.
"My beyond precious and amazing brother (and best friend) @eddiealderson got diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer last Friday," she wrote. "Ever since, we've been surrounded by love, support, and optimism. He is so strong and determined, I know he'll beat this. Please pray for Eddie's journey w/ us. I'll keep you all updated as always."
She posted again with an update about Eddie's condition, writing, "Had to share this! Look what YOUR love and prayers have already done! Can't thank you enough!" to go along with another message that reads, "The power of prayer is AMAZING! As of this morning Eddie was scheduled for surgery tonight. They said his first biopsy didn't have enough tissue to determine the exact lymphoma. This would've pushed back his diagnoses/treatment and would've meant more time in the hospital. Only 4 hours after he announced his cancer (and you all responded with beautiful words and prayer) the doctor came in and said he no longer needed surgery! They were able to diagnose him using the sample they already had. (GREAT news) AND he officially has Hodgkings Lymphoma (which is very treatable) he's going home today and will start Chemotherapy on Monday."
Alderson and his family have every confidence that the actor will recover, but additional words of support can't hurt! So if you'd like, you can leave your messages of encouragement for Eddie in our comment section below (and prayers, thoughts, and positive vibes wouldn't hurt either).
