If anyone thought Mary Scanlon looked familiar when she started on PC, you're right. And if you watched family television in the late sixties you may even remember why.
Patricia Crowley ranks among the elite of good TV moms that were so popular in that decade. Ms. Crowley starred in Please Don't Eat the Daisies, a situation comedy that aired on NBC television from 1965 to 1967. It's first telecast was on September 14th, 1965 and it ran through September 2nd, 1967.
The show was based on the best-selling book by Jean Kerr and popular 1960 Doris Day movie of the same title, Please Don't Eat the Daisies. It was the story of an unconventional suburban family. Jim Nash was a professor of English at the Community College in Ridgemont, New York, where the show was set. Ms. Crowley played Joan, a newspaper columnist who hated housework, didn't like to cook, and was totally unconcerned about how her more traditional neighbors felt about it. She got up at noon and did whatever she was in the mood to do. Completing the family were the four Nash children, all boys, including seven-year-old twins; Martha, the maid; and a 150-pound sheepdog known as Ladadog. The Thorntons were the next-door neighbors.
Please Don't Eat the Daisies can still be seen in syndication in various parts of the country.
