Forget about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner! These recent soap opera separations have created fireworks that rival any fairgrounds'.

The entertainment world went into a frenzy earlier this week after Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced they were getting a divorce after ten years of marriage. But they're not the only famous couple to hit the skids in recent weeks. Several of daytime's most popular pairs received tickets to Splitsville, just in time for Independence Day. Which separations were the most shocking? And which were way overdue? Soap Central is delving into the recent world of soap-couples-gone-wrong, and we're counting on you to weigh in and let us know.

Cane and Lily (The Young and the Restless)
As one of the only long-term soap couples without a mar from infidelity, Y&R's Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil) have been able to endure seven years of relative happiness. Unfortunately, daytime's disloyalty disease finally hit the pair and shattered their perfect union. It all happened when Lily became suspicious of her husband's newfound closeness with Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman), who was struggling with her husband, Michael's (Christian LeBlanc), cancer diagnosis and the miserable attitude that came with it. Admittedly, Lily's suspicions were warranted, considering Cane and Lauren shared a steamy kiss. What she didn't know, however, was that the pair regretted the liplock and swore never to do it again. Had she known that, it's quite possible she wouldn't have jumped in the sack with Joe (Scott Elrod) -- which ultimately ended the couple's near-decade of cheat-free history. They haven't broken up yet, but it's only a matter of time...

Paige and J.J. (Days of our Lives)
It was pretty obvious that DAYS' Paige (True O'Brien) and J.J. (Casey Moss) were on the verge of a massive explosion, considering J.J. was sleeping with his gal's mother, Eve (Kassie DePaiva). The reveal was a moment fans waited months to see, and it certainly didn't disappoint. However, the incredibly uncomfortable (and yet oh-so-hot) love scenes between J.J. and Eve were the best fireworks to be seen from the story. Fancy a repeat of the show, anyone?

Luke and Tracy (General Hospital)
Sure, Luke (Anthony Geary) and Tracy's (Jane Elliot) breakup might not be real, but fans certainly didn't know that when Laura (Genie Francis) stormed the couple's wedding and later had everyone believe she and Luke were reuniting. The whole thing was a ruse in order to save the iconic couple's son, Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), but Tracy was in the dark right alongside fans, making their "breakup" one intense moment for all -- especially because, for a brief minute, it seemed Luke and Laura would have one more chance to shine as the beloved pair they once were. Nobody knows how Luke and Tracy's relationship will really end once Geary wraps his GH run this month, which makes their split all the more a nail-biter.

Rick and Forrester Creations (The Bold and the Beautiful)
So maybe Rick (Jacob Young) and Forrester Creations aren't a human pair, but it was still quite a blow when their recent "romance" came to an end. After all, it's been quite entertaining to watch Rick terrorize many B&B characters as Forrester's CEO, a position he ultimately lost when Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) secretly teamed up with shareholders Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), Thomas (Pierson Fodé), and Liam (Scott Clifton) to take the title as his own. One can only hope that Rick's fight to get back on top will create just as much fun as his tumble to the bottom was able to provide.

Victor and Nikki (The Young and the Restless)
Who knew it would take a drunken Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to finally walk away from Victor (Eric Braeden)? Okay, she may have been sober when she made the decision to move out of the ranch and away from the man she's been in love with for, like, forever. But it was falling off the wagon and entering rehab that made her finally wake up and realize that Victor may not be the greatest influence in her life. If the pair's history shows us anything, they'll no doubt reconcile and be shacking up together again in no time. But in the meantime, we look forward to watching Nikki experience a little independence and hope that perhaps some fireworks will ignite with another Genoa City man for a change.
