Gilbert Glenn Brown is an actor and director who joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as singer Jett Slade in 2019. Though he is new to daytime, he has a long resume that includes series like The Inspectors, Stranger Things, Mercy, ER, The O.C., The Shield, and Roswell. The actor, who holds a BFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, also has done lots of voice-over work for various projects, including one for the NFL.
In addition to television work, Brown has over 15 years of theatrical experience. Some of his stage credits include When Jazz Had the Blues (CEK Productions/The Matrix Theatre), Harriet Jacobs (Kansas City Rep), Civil War Christmas (Huntington Theatre), TopDog/UnderDog (Seattle Rep/Center Theatre Group), Spunk (True Colors Theatre Company), and Charleston Olio (Goodman Theatre & National Black Theatre Festival).
Brown was a creative child who wrote stories and scripts and drew his own comic books. His love of acting developed when he saw a youth theatre company called PYT (Positive Youth Troupe) from the Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center in the Bronx, perform at his high school.
Much to many Y&R viewers' surprise, Brown isn't a professional singer. However, he has kept his vocal skills fresh over the years just in case an acting job calls for it.
In early 2019, Brown revealed that he is working on a web series that he co-created, wrote and stars in.
