The Young and the Restless will dedicate a special episode to Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) later this month. Cooper passed away on May 8 at the age of 84.
The special stand-alone episode will feature Y&R cast members, family, and friends sharing their favorite memories. The show will also include past interviews and classic clips of the Emmy-winning actress.
"Jeanne Cooper was a legend and we want to give her the tribute she deserves," Angelica McDaniel, senior vice president of Daytime CBS, said in a statement. "The cast will honor their longtime friend, family member and coworker in the greatest way possible, as we celebrate her life and vibrant spirit and share it with the audience who loved her as much as we did."
Cooper was Y&R's longest-running cast member, playing Katherine Chancellor for more than 39 years. Her work on Y&R earned her an Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy and a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The special tribute to Jeanne Cooper will air Tuesday, May 28, during The Young and the Restless' timeslot.
