Fans of The Young and the Restless already love Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), and his latest post on Twitter makes him even more lovable: he shared that his longtime costar Christel Khalil is set to make a return appearance as Lily Ashby.
"Reunited and it feels so good!" he wrote along with a photo of the actress, who happens to be celebrating her birthday today. "Happy birthday to this girl right here! I've missed you & [heart] you! It's so great to have you back!"

Khalil chose to drop down to recurring status with the CBS soap earlier this August to explore other opportunities, with Lily going to prison for causing the death of Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and her unborn child. Shortly after news of the actress' contract status broke, she revealed that she was open to returning to Y&R from time to time, as long as the storyline arcs were short.
"I have absolutely no idea how they're gonna work this out, I really don't," she said about how Lily could still appear while being in prison. "I would still love to come in every month, maybe two to four times a month. As long as I'm not working, I'm available to do that. This isn't fully goodbye, it's more of an I'll see you every now and then!"
This is not the first time that Khalil has taken a break from Y&R. She joined the series in July 2002 and, three years later, opted not to renew her contract so that she could pursue other opportunities outside of daytime. About a year later, she returned the CBS soap opera.
In addition to her work on The Young and the Restless, Khalil has appeared on Family Matters, That's So Raven, and 2 Broke Girls. Her next project is the film No Good Deed, which was in post-production earlier this fall.
The news of Khalil's return isn't the only exciting thing Goddard has posted on social media this week. He also shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes video of the actress' final moments on set back in August.
"I filmed this after Christel's last scene a few months back, when her character was being transferred to a prison 400 miles away," he reveals. "I wasn't going to post it, but it's such a fun yet bittersweet video in so many ways, that now I wanted to share. Well, the fun part is that Christel didn't know I was filming and thought I was just taking a pic! But it's moments like these that make working with people that you love so very special."
