During his run on All My Children, Mark Consuelos (Mateo Santos) squared off against scheming ex-wives, rapists, and murderers. Now, the actor will have a chance to play one of the bad guys.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Consuelos has been cast as "Spivey" in the upcoming second season of FX's American Horror Story.
The spooky series, the most popular original scripted programming in FX's history, is doing something rather surprising for its second season. The new season will center around a new locale -- an institution for the criminally insane -- and feature an almost entirely new cast.
Consuelos joins Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Chloe Sevigny, and Lizzie Brochere in the new season.
This is not the first time that Consuelos has gotten to walk on the dark side. Earlier this year on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Consuelos played a jailed rapist who confessed to a crime, but who had been claiming his innocence ever since his conviction. An exclusive video interview featuring Consuelos talking about the dark role -- and what he told his children when they asked him about his job -- is available by clicking here.
Meanwhile, production of American Horror Story's second season begins this week. The show should return to the airwaves just in time for Halloween.
