Taco Bell is always thinking outside the bun, but this time, the popular fast food chain has hit a slam dunk -- of the ketchup variety. As a way to announce that nacho fries will now grace the menu alongside classic TB favorites like chalupas, Doritos tacos, and Crunchwrap Supremes, the company has produced a parody movie trailer starring former All My Children star Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo du Pres). And it's almost as satisfying as a heaping pile of hot, crunchy, golden fries.
Titled Web of Fries, the fake conspiracy film features Duhamel as a family man who wonders why Taco Bell doesn't serve fries and accidentally uncovers a "Big Fries" conspiracy in which the "burger people" are trying to keep nacho fries under wraps.
"It's really about one man jeopardizing Big Fries' monopoly of French fries," Duhamel previews in a parody "behind-the-scenes" video to go along with the fake film trailer. "Taco Bell really poses a threat to Big Fries: the nacho cheese sauce, the Mexican spices. Big Fries does not want them to be anywhere near them."
Consequently, Duhamel's character finds himself in a big "web of fries" and running for his life in most of the movie. In fact, though he did most of his own "dipping" for the film, the North Dakota native reveals that the storyline got so crazy in parts, he was forced to get a "dip double" -- for insurance reasons, of course.
Crazy enough, Duhamel isn't the only bit of soap opera fun featured in Taco Bell's amusing advertising campaign. It's almost as if the company foresaw daytime fans asking, "Would you like fries O'Brien with that?" because Days of our Lives alum True O'Brien (ex-Paige Larson) also makes a cameo appearance in the trailer.
