Sometimes when I watch The Bold and the Beautiful, I feel like I'm back in my 9th grade geometry class. This show is filled with triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and all sorts of geometric shapes. Get your protractors out, and your thinking caps on. It's time to give you a quick crash course in BOLD 101.
The equilateral triangle: Quinn, Donna, and Eric
First off, I must say that I am thrilled that Rena Sofer joined The Bold and the Beautiful this year. She brought that beautiful, fierce yet psycho type character back on the show. We haven't seen anyone with this type of charisma since Kimberlin Brown (ex-Sheila). Mind you, I don't think anyone will ever play psycho the way Kimberlin did. I must, however, say that Rena is following in Kimberlin's footsteps quite nicely.
This week, Quinn told Donna to step aside and not interfere with Quinn's plans to be in Eric's life and possibly his bed. Donna claims that Quinn is nothing but trouble. Maybe she's right. But like I said before, I welcome this type of trouble. We haven't had it in a long time. I'm hoping that we can get some Sheila/Lauren type fights between these two.
Anyway, a few weeks back, we saw Quinn scratch Bill with his sword and actually taste his blood. This week, we saw the blue-eyed beauty lurking through the Forrester mansion and smashing Donna and Eric's picture. Yeah, Donna. Watch out. Quinn might stab you with your earring. Quinn got a taste of the glamorous life. She is not going to let anyone stand in her way.
I love Quinn's loyalty to her son. Their relationship reminds me a little bit of Queen Stephanie and Ridge's. Stephanie would bend over backwards and stomp on anyone who interfered with her baby boy's happiness.
Quinn is the same way when it comes to Wyatt. Wyatt wants Hope. Liam is just an obstacle in her son's happiness and her security in Forrester Creations. Careful, Liam, she already scratched your daddy with his sword. I suggest you don't wear yours when you're around her.
The Quadrilateral/Pentagon: Liam, Hope, Wyatt, Aly, and Steffy
Seriously, the Hope worship fest is really getting old. I'm sick of it, and it seems like Aly is sick of it as well. During the HFTF photo shoot, Wyatt grabbed Hope and pulled her in for a kiss. Oliver, the photographer -- and Hope's ex-boyfriend -- snapped the candid shot.
Aly pulled her faux cousin aside and asked her exactly what she was doing. Why was she stringing Wyatt and Liam, mostly Liam, along? Hope started running her mouth about herself. It's time for her to focus on her line and make that her first priority. She admits she likes the attention and that Liam put her through a lot with Steffy. I'm sorry, maybe I missed something. Didn't Hope choose to tolerate Liam's constant disrespect to their relationship? Didn't she say that she would never treat Liam the way he treated her throughout that whole fiasco? I thought she did. So why is she doing it?
I understand why Hope would get a little twinge of satisfaction in treating Liam the way she is. I love the fact that Liam himself said that he understands why she's behaving the way she is. He admitted that he has treated Hope worse than she's treating him. They've had so many opportunities to have it all, but each time, he screwed up.
Revenge is sweet, but not like the agony of defeat. Hope better hurry up and make up her mind. Aly Cat is on the prowl. She set her sites on Liam. She already is starting to stake her claim b by sending him the picture of Wyatt and Hope kissing.
Hope doesn't even consider Aly as a threat. Hope confided in her Aunt Katie that Aly was so cute. She called the girl her loyal shadow. I had to rewind my DVR for that.
Her tone was very condescending to me. Again, only my opinion. Hope thinks that Liam will be there when she's ready. Little does she know that her loyal shadow was having the time of her life, hustling her crush at tennis.
Hope went on and on about how cute and inexperienced Aly was. She kind of wanted to take Aly under her wing. Um, is she serious? Yes, Aly may not have dated many people. That's because she was doing what young adults should do. She was furthering her education. She opted to go to college. Not just get a clothing line handed to her fresh out of high school.
Hope has only seriously dated two people in her life: Oliver and Liam. She's only flirted with two: Thomas and Wyatt. Does this make her an expert at dating? I hate to say this, but the only thing Hope is an expert at is having unsuccessful weddings. Her immaturity and Liam's indecisiveness are to blame.
I don't dislike Hope. I really don't. This new attitude that she has is just annoying. I whole-heartedly agree that she shouldn't be getting married to anyone at the moment. I also think that she really shouldn't be dating anyone for that matter. Hope should focus on herself, getting to really find out who she is. I don't think she should be stringing Liam and Wyatt along -- and they remind me of two dogs chasing a bone.
I can just see it now. Liam gets annoyed with Hope. Liam whines about Hope's indecisiveness. Liam and Aly share a tender kiss. Hope then realizes she wants Liam back, sending Wyatt, her true passion, away with his tail between his legs. Liam will start to have feelings for Aly, who happens to be his ex-wife's cousin (Way to keep it in the famil; I guess he takes after his daddy), which will start another triangle or quadrilateral. Am I right?
The Isosceles Triangle: Brooke/Bill/Katie
Bill and his relentless quest of getting Brooke back are nauseating. Yes, Brooke wants to put her sister before her mister. The question is, can she? Bill sauntered into Eric's office and locked the door. Brooke actually looked a little annoyed. Then Bill started turning on the charm, and the classic Brooke tear appeared. Thankfully, Aly's knock interrupted what looked like another moment of weakness for Brooke.
The look on Aly's face when Bill unlocked the door was priceless. She looked as if she was going to puke. Yeah, Aly, I know the feeling. I'm really just done with this storyline. I can't wait until December 13, when Thorsten Kaye makes his appearance as Ridge Forrester, the love of Brooke Logan's life.
I'm sure Ridge will explain why he broke up with Brooke over a text message and why he wasn't present for his mother's death or funeral. I'm thinking that Ridge will come back expecting to pick up where he left off with Brooke. Brooke will of course give him the Brooke tear and then the Brooke slap. I don't think she'll fall back into his arms so quickly. I'm pretty sure that the dressmaker (a nickname Ridge's half-brother Nick Marone gave him) won't fall into her bed so quickly after he finds out about Brooke's latest relationship with her brother-in-law.
I liked the interaction with Katie and Liam this week. It's obvious that she's still in love with her husband. Every other question out of her mouth was about Bill and Brooke. Did Bill say anything about me? Did Brooke stop by the house? Oh, Katie. This is just sad.
Katie is one of my favorite characters on this show. I like the fact that she calls it like it is. It's usually black and white with her. My question is, how come when it comes to Bill, the brunette bombshell sees fifty shades of gray?
Sometime I wish I could just morph into my television. I would love to be a friend to Katie. Everyone has that friend that tells the truth, no matter how bad it is. I want to be that friend to her. I would remind her of all of the things Bill has done to her. If I were Katie, the first and final straw for me would have been that five-minute affair he had with Steffy.
Katie was talking about Hope growing and not depending on Liam as she did in the past. I wish she could take after her niece in that aspect. Katie is a strong woman who shouldn't be dependent on a man -- especially a man who broke their marriage vows with her closest confidante, her sister.
With Ridge coming back to town and finding out about Bill and Brooke, will he turn to Katie for comfort? Or will he be competition for Bill in regards to winning Brooke's heart? To me, there's no contest. Brooke has only really truly loved two people, Nick and Ridge. That's it. I consider Bill to be a bed warmer.
The Rhombus: Rick/Caroline/Maya/Carter
I was happy that Rick and Caroline got married. I think that she and Rick are a great fit. I thought that Rick was very sweet in having everything prepared for his blushing bride, down to the dress. Carter happily agreed to officiate the ceremony. I'm thinking he did it to make sure that his competition was completely out of the game. Rick and Caroline better be careful. We all know what happened to the last marriage Carter officiated.
Rick and Caroline's vows seemed very genuine. I liked how Bill cleared his throat when Caroline said she was now a Forrester/Logan. Uncle Bill wasn't having that. The new Mrs. Forrester quickly had to state that she would always be a Spencer.
Rick's surprise wedding was a beautiful gesture. If I were Caroline, I'd be a tad bit ticked that I didn't get my dream wedding. I know that a marriage isn't supposed to be about the dress, glitz, and glamour. I get it. I love my husband. I'd marry him anywhere. But you better believe after our quickie wedding, I would be getting my dream wedding.
What didn't seem very genuine to me was Maya's sudden change of heart. I could've sworn the last time Maya was on-screen, she was still pining away for Rick, even though she accepted Carter's proposal. So now, all of a sudden, I'm supposed to believe she's over it. That little hand-on-hand clasp between the girls was sweet, yet it just didn't seem right to me. In a way, I'm glad they moved the story along, but I don't like how it happened. There was never really any resolution. At least to me there wasn't.
It's time to dish your thoughts on the latest happenings with some of Los Angeles' prominent families? Do you think Aly is sticking her nose where it doesn't belong? Will Hope finally stop playing games and make a decision? Can Brooke fight her attraction to Bill? What will happen when Ridge finally comes home? Steffy is Liam's passion. There is an undeniable chemistry between them. As much as Liam claims he loves Hope, Steffy has gotten under his skin. To me, they seem to be a better match. Hope/Liam/Steffy is the new Taylor/Ridge/Brooke. -- MiaHope is too young to be married. She's younger than I am. She should date and actually develop a relationship with Wyatt. Not just marry him. -- Naya
I don't believe for one minute that Maya is over Rick so easily. There's got to be more of that story developing somewhere. -- Chelsea
Congratulations are in order for Linsey Godfrey and Robert Adamson (Caroline, B&B, and Noah, The Young and the Restless). The couple is expecting their first child. I wonder if Caroline and Rick will be having a little visit from the stork?
Mike has the pleasure of scooping it up about the return of Ridge Forrester next week. I can't wait to see Brooke's reaction when she and Ridge lock eyes for the first time in over a year. I'm also super excited to see Thorsten Kaye on my television screen again. He is definitely easy on the eyes.
