In Venice, Rick and Amber discussed the situation about Little Eric. Amber told Rick that she knew he was relieved that everything was out in the open. He told her that he'd lost one son, and the son he had raised for over a year was not really his. He asked how he was supposed to be relieved about that. He said that he had not been biding his time. He had enjoyed every moment he had spent with his son because that was the most important part of his life.
Rick didn't understand how Amber could do that to him. He said his family would feel angry, hurt, and betrayed, but that was nothing compared to how he felt. He screamed that he hated her and left the room, while Amber sat down crying.
Becky and Tawny arrived. Becky apologized for what Amber was going through. Amber told Tawny that she had told Rick everything. Amber asked Becky to take the baby into the other room so she could have a talk with her mother. Tawny seemed to think they could still salvage something from the situation. She said Rick was still married to Amber, and they at least deserved enough money to live comfortably.
Amber said Rick would probably agree to stay with her to avoid hurting his family any further because he was a decent guy. She said she had learned certain things by marrying Rick. She said that Tawny was an evil, miserable human being and that she was definitely her mother's daughter. She told her mother that she despised her.
Amber said the only person she hated more than Tawny was herself for the way she had treated the most decent person she had ever known. She said she had used an innocent baby to get Rick to marry her and had told such a string of lies that she didn't even remember how it had all begun. Amber said that for the first time in her life, she was going to take responsibility for what she had done. She said she was going to face the music.
Amber said she had learned a lot from her marriage. She had learned about principles, morals, and telling right from wrong. She asked her mother if she even knew what morality was. She told her mother that she never wanted to see her again because Tawny had taken a vulnerable, innocent little girl and turned her into a monster because only a monster could do what Amber had done to Rick.
Amber told her mother to get out and that she meant nothing to her. She then went to the baby's crib, picked up one of his stuffed animals, and held it close to her. She kept saying she was so sorry. Rick was outside, looking at a picture of the baby with tears welling up in his eyes.
Kimberly and Brooke were on the plane on their way back to Los Angeles. Kimberly could sense that Brooke was upset, but Brooke didn't really want to talk about it. Kimberly left briefly, and Brooke reminisced about Thorne. She flashed back to when she had been lying on the bed with Ridge. She wondered how Ridge could have set her up like that and how Thorne had to have felt when he'd seen them, especially on the day he'd proposed to her. She thought back to the proposal.
Kimberly returned and said she needed to talk to Brooke. She told Brooke that she was going to have to quit her job at Forrester. Brooke asked her to reconsider because she was a very good model. Kimberly said she didn't think she could take running into Rick and Amber in the halls constantly. She said she'd thought she and Rick had had a chance, but she'd finally realized that it was not meant to be.
Kimberly said that it would be too hard to see Rick because she had never felt for anyone the way she felt about him. She said Rick was happy being with his son, and she was happy for him because all she wanted for him was his happiness. Brooke said she understood how Kimberly felt.
Brooke placed a call to Megan to see if she had heard from Thorne. She told Megan that she was on her way back to Los Angeles, and if Megan saw Thorne to tell him that Brooke desperately needed to talk with him.
Amber felt terrible about what she'd done to Becky and especially to Rick. Taylor was happy to get home to the children. Ridge warned Eric that Brooke wouldn't give up without a fight. Taylor acknowledged that she and Ridge were both feeling guilty about their roles in the ruse. Eric was certain that Thorne had to realize he was only a surrogate for Ridge, and Brooke would surely cut her losses.
Brooke told Katie that something horrible had happened in Venice. She explained how Ridge and Taylor had set her up. Brooke kept trying to locate Thorne, but no one seemed to know where he was. She called Ridge, but Eric got on the line, insisting that it was over between Thorne and her. Brooke asserted that she and Thorne would straighten everything out.
Eric went to confront Brooke in person. Brooke said that she and Thorne would be together, and there was nothing Eric could do to stop them.
Amber said the baby belonged with Becky, and she knew she'd be a wonderful mother. They decided that Becky and Eric should go back to L.A. with Amber to help break the news to the Forresters. Amber said all she had left was her integrity -- something she hadn't even cared about before.
Stephanie pressed Ridge and Taylor for information about Brooke and Thorne. They hesitated but were able to honestly say that Brooke had gone home without Thorne. Ridge promised Stephanie that Brooke would never be a problem for her again.
Brooke told Eric she hated him for what he had done, but Eric insisted she had caused it all herself. Brooke promised that she and Thorne would be married.
Sally and Adam heard that Macy was on her way home, but they didn't know if she was returning with a broken heart or if she and Thorne had gotten together in Italy and if she had forgiven him for standing her up in the Forrester living room.
Megan told Thorne that Brooke had been trying to reach him. She phoned Brooke to let her know that Thorne was on his way home and added that he sounded as if he was upset with Brooke. Without revealing where she was going, Brooke left Eric and went to Thorne's house to wait for his return.
Brooke thought Thorne was at home, but it was Megan who was dropping off some reports for him. Megan told Brooke about Thorne's phone call, explaining that he hadn't wanted to talk to her. Brooke told Megan that she'd made a terrible mistake and needed to talk to Thorne about it.
Eric told Ridge that Brooke was enraged and was going to tell Thorne about the setup. Eric wanted to keep fighting, but Ridge wondered if they were wrong. Maybe Thorne and Brooke really were in love, Ridge said. Eric believed Thorne could never forgive Brooke.
Kimberly told Adam that she had given Brooke her notice and ended her relationship with Rick. Adam comforted her. In his rage, Rick threw a picture across the room. Taylor heard the commotion. Rick admitted that Amber had done something so evil that it made him sick to think about it. He explained that Eric, the child he'd sacrificed his life for, wasn't his son at all.
Thorne told Brooke he had nothing to say to her. She'd betrayed him, and Thorne demanded Brooke leave, but she refused to go until she told him what had really happened in that hotel room.
Rick explained Tawny's plan to replace Becky's baby for Amber's. Rick was very bitter about what had happened, and he told Taylor that his life had been one big lie. He was determined not to let Becky take the baby to Paris. He admitted that he felt like an idiot for marrying Amber when everyone had told him not to trust her. He said that his marriage was over. On the plane, Becky told Amber that she was not a bad person and encouraged her to reach out to Rick.
Eric tried to calm Stephanie down when she worried about Thorne and Brooke. She wanted to hear for herself that it was over between them.
Amber called Kimberly, looking for Rick. Kimberly realized that something had to have happened between them.
Thorne was ordering Brooke out when she finally shouted that what he had seen had been a setup. She explained that Taylor and Ridge had gone to Venice just to split them up. Brooke told Thorne that he had seen one stupid kiss, but he hadn't seen her telling Ridge to leave her alone because she was in love with Thorne. He was stunned when Brooke told him that Eric had devised the plan. Brooke told Thorne that there was nothing to stop them from being together.
Kimberly arrived at Rick's door and asked him what was going on.
