As so many of you (and I) predicted, little Henry is actually a Lewis! Now that Dinah and Shayne know - it's only a matter of time before most of Springfield (including Mallet and Marina) know as well.
This paternity storyline has certainly been done before (I remember the saga of Phillip's paternity way back when, as well as countless others on GL) but this is an interesting twist. Usually the biological parent wants to claim the child. But Shayne knows that he's in no shape to be changing diapers and being a dad in general at this stage in his life - and I do applaud his candor. And the looming possibility that the Dark Prince Edmund Winslow will return puts young Henry in danger if the truth is revealed.
Shayne's mom Reva, however, is all about the little ones these days! I have to admit I laugh at the reactions of the baby playing Colin and the one who appears as Henry - they are adorable!! While the paternity story could have really brought the post-Orlando mood to a crashing halt, I had to laugh at the group crashing Reva and Jeffrey's - to watch a soap opera and visit. The only person I've ever watched GL with were my Aunt Sis (now deceased) who got me hooked on the show, and my friend Diana growing up. Of course, with Tivo I watch most of the episodes all at once on the weekend - all by myself.
Otalia fans were treated to more air time this week, but why do they keep having to have so much company in their scenes? Emma is ADORABLE, but this is spa weekend for them to get away and have time to figure out where their relationship is headed. And while I'm a huge Liz Keifer (Blake) fan, I want her to get her own story - not be an interloper in two stories.
For those who who have been asking, I am still puzzled by James Spaulding. For a young man, he certainly has a lot of baggage (like his father did at that age). But I haven't decided if I trust James all that much. Sure, he's been away from the family, but it seems he has some issues with the way he was shuttled away from the family. Kudos to the writers for remembering to include James' history in saving a young Lizzie when she had leukemia and Beth being married to Jim LeMay (hence his name) when James was conceived.
Some good casting news as well, two time Emmy winner Tom Pelphrey will return as Jonathan Randall this summer. No word on a firm air date or how long he'll stay. And Nancy St. Alban and Paul Anthony Stewart will return as the fan favorites Danny and Michelle Santos this summer as well. As soon as I have info on their return dates, we'll post it.
GL fans who are craving news on how they can help Keep the Light Shining, here is a way we can all band together to show that GL fans are serious about saving the show! GL fans have organized a Save The Light Rally on Friday, May 22nd in New York City. The group is scheduled to meet at 7:30 a.m. outside of the CBS Early Show at 5th Avenue and 59th Street in Manhattan. For more information and updates about the rally, visit http://www.savethelightrally.com/ I plan on making the trip up from southern Maryland so if anyone wants to carpool please let me know.
The latest news I've heard is that P&G and Televest are still in talks with Lifetime and the Oxygen networks. There have been some promising news leaks - but I'll wait to see what happens before I breathe a sigh of relief that GL will have a new home. Between writing E-Mails and letters to save the show and raise funds for my Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team, I feel like I've been sitting at my computers at home and work 24/7... But both are causes near and dear to my heart, so the effort is worth the sacrifice.
So while I will try to focus here on the show, I want to remind fans to keep the letters, calls and posts coming!! We have to work fast to save the show. CBS is a dead issue, but Lifetime, Oxygen and even SoapNet are certainly places where we can Keep the Light Shining! And don't forget if you aren't a Nielsen family (I'm not, either) to watch the show online, too. Check it out at: http://www.cbs.com/daytime/guiding_light/video/
Whether or not we know how this story - and this show ends, it is important for all of us to stay focused on working to promote the show in a positive light for as long as we can...
Together We Can...Keep the Light Shining!
