Talk about an action packed week! Shootouts between a dastardly prince and a super secret agent, brothers coming to blows when the meet, a kidnapping? Holy cow! Springfield has sure spiced up!!
When Tom Pelphrey (Jonathan) returned, I was waiting for some great, intense scenes. Ones in which he might earn a THIRD Emmy..... And if he keeps going, I can see where he might have to make room on his mantle for more hardware. As a fan of crime shows like CSI:NY and NCIS I love to figure out things - find the bad guy. And the shootout was pretty cool for a soap!!
But with the clock ticking on Springfield, I have to admit wondering if and when Jeffrey will return to his family. The thought of no Reva and Jeffrey reunion is a depressing. Watching Kim (Zimmer, Reva) with all of those pics of Jeffrey was both creepy and sad. Sure, we can't all have a happy ending, but he's ALIVE. Don't make us wait too long for Reva to have the chance to give Jeffrey hell for keeping her in the dark : )
Between the shootout on the run and the throw down in Reva's house, it was a busy week for her sons! I have to admit that the intensity of Jeff Branson (Shayne) I couldn't wait to see how he paired up with the uber talented Mr. Pelphrey. While I liked the intensity, I have to give the multi-Emmy winner the TKO.... Still, it has me waiting for the next battle between Reva's adult sons. But will Jonathan's mission (with Jeffrey) to stop Uncle Eddie mean Reva will be without her rebel son for long?
I have to admit that I was really looking forward to Natalia's homecoming - and I know Otalia fans were as well. The chemistry is still there, and Jessica looks amazing - even in a fake pregnancy belly. But the dialogue was so flat. Olivia has so much passion, which she's been quick to show to her ex-Josh, but with Natalia she reverts to being afraid to fight for what (and who) she loves? I don't think so. Olivia's faults, if you can call them that, is that she loves so fiercely, with everything she has. To see her so vulnerable was fine, but she seemed unwilling to fight for love. But Natalia seems determined to have her baby her way - with Frank and Olivia (if she's willing) in the picture. Of course, unless something totally drastic happens, we'll never see how this story ends up - the baby is due around Thanksgiving.
The holiday seems to be a central theme, despite the fact that fans won't see it. Lizzie and Bill's first holiday meal will be in their, hopefully livable new home. But without Phillip, how will they remember the day? It's one of about a million questions that I can't see GL fans getting the answer to... which is disappointing as well as sad.
This week will bring more changes as a major character leaves - which will surely bring a boat load of tears. Having read the spoilers it won't be an easy departure - so have your hankies ready. Phillip might actually reveal his illness to his family, and treasure hunters go "Down Under" for Jenna's last adventure....
In off-screen news, I learned something late last Sunday that I wanted to share. GL fans in the DC area please note that on September 14th the show will move from 3-4pm to 10-11am. Yes, this means the final week of the show will be moved for Dr. Oz.... Don't even let me get started on that one. Contractual obligations was the excuse I received from our sad little CBS affiliate. If other fans here of changes before September 18th to the air time in their local market, please be sure to pass them along so we can post them. I'll add them to Facebook as well (friend me at G L Scoop). I'm way behind due to the large volume of E-Mail and will be away in Boston for most of the week on business. I hope to catch up soon, though.
In the next few weeks, before the show stops airing, I really want to take some time to reach out to them and let them know how much their characters, and the show, have meant to me. Even thought they have wrapped taping, they can certainly get mail to the cast members from GL fans. I certainly encourage all GL fans to drop the cast (either as a group or individually) a line to share your thoughts and memories
